Learning about our Maori Culture in New Zealand -Aotearoa

We have been learning more about Maori Culture and adding to our Maori Language.

Just having visited our amazing Museum in Auckland we all learnt so much

The JUNIOR SCHOOL VISITED THE Maori Galleries

ALL of us found out that the Auckland Museum protects and cares for  many Maori treasures (taonga).
We saw many display cases There are over 1000 taonga  displayed in the main Maori galleries, He Taonga Maori (Maori Court) and Te Ao Turoa (Maori Natural History Gallery) and many more are held in storage. These taonga are from of all the major tribes of Aotearoa. The taonga provide information about descendants. Whaea Kereana called them" Our Grandparents". In the carvings in the Meeting House she told us about their history and the people that came before them. The  taonga shows examples of Maori Life
Here we found out about the the nature and history of the Maori, and Aotearoa, New Zealand.
