What we created

This term we have four new lego kits. We have one in each class and we rotate them because these kits help us to build the vehicles and machines we have been talking about in our Inquiry Unit on Transport The kits also have simple mechanisms in them which help the machines and vehicles we build work.

I used lots of lego pieces with wheels to make a double-decker bus. There were girls and boys and my cousins in my double-decker bus.

My Jet Plane by Charlie

I used heaps of lego pieces to make my jet plane. It goes fast and it has boosters and wings.

My Tow Truck by George

I put lots of blocks together. Next I made the people sit on the truck. It worked with a pulley.

My Digging Machine by Mahaleah

I put on the wheel first. Next I put on the light, then I put on the shovel and the man.

Our Creations on Moviemaker

Loooooook at our great movie on the creations we made. We wrote fabulous stories about how we put our machine together and the simple parts and mechanisms we used. We were able to answer our Inquiry Questions

Matariki Ball

We are very excited because the school is celebrating Matariki with a Matariki Ball this Friday.

We are all going to dress up and have lots of dancing and yummy food to eat.

We are all making a silver or gold star for the Matariki Ball.

Jed and Tui are being great workers and concentrating really hard on drawing their star on silver card. Well done boys.

More cupcake stories

We made cupcakes with flour and 2 eggs. We mixed it. It looked yummy.

When we made cupcakes we put in some flour. We put in sugar. We put in some baking powder. Then we went to put them in the oven. It smelt delicious. When we got them out it smelt sweet.

On Monday Room One made cupcakes in Mrs Greenhams backroom. We used butter, and water and we melted the butter and we put in some water . We used a bowl and butter and raisins and sugar and little eggs. We mixed it together and at morning tea we iced them and sprinkled the cupcakes and then we ate the cupcakes.

Making Popcorn Mosaic

Popcorn making Great!!!We will write the steps about how we made popcorn

We had to get the pan ready and hot, hot, hot, to make the popcorn go pop in the pot. Pit, pop, pit, pop against the top when it gets so, so, hot. We are opening our popcorn packets to put them in the pan     We ate our warm hot popcorn off our serviettes. It tasted warm in our tummies

Learning to cook to help us with writing procedures-making Cup cakes

This term Room 1 is making many delicious foods. We will be able to see how to follow instructions and how to write about what we did. Here you can see us all having a turn at making cupcakes and then making the icing to ice the cupcakes

Here are all our cupcakes when they are out of the overn and ready for icing This was Saia's birthday so he got to ice the first one.

Making cupcakes- Our Ingredients for Making Cupcakes

4 cups of flour

2 teaspoons of baking powder

1 cup of sugar

1 packet of raisins

2 eggs

4 tablespoons of water

4 tablespoons of milk

  

Method- What we did

We put the flour, sugar and baking powder in the bowl and mixed together

We added the raisins and mixed

We broke the eggs and added them to the mixture

We stirred the mixture

We added water and made the mixture into a batter

We used a teaspoon to put the mixture into the patty cases

We cooked the cup cakes for 15 minutes at 200C

They looked golden on the top.
